I am Noah Jackson a husband, father of two, and the person behind Third Party Voting. My journey into the HOA world was not exactly planned, but like most great things in life, it happened at the right time and led me down a path I never expected. It is a story of unexpected turns, a deep dive into community needs, and the realization that sometimes, the best solutions come from the most personal experiences.

Before launching Third Party Voting, I honed my skills in the fast-paced world of corporate event planning and fundraising. As a Colgate University graduate with a Master’s degree from the University of San Francisco, I spent years organizing large-scale events for up to 7,500 attendees and successfully raising over $1,000,000 in a single night to combat homelessness.

Those experiences taught me invaluable lessons: how to manage complex logistics under pressure, build unwavering trust with diverse stakeholders, and consistently deliver impactful results. These are precisely the skills that translate directly into how we meticulously operate Third Party Voting today, ensuring every election is a perfectly orchestrated event.

When I am not helping HOAs streamline their election processes, you will probably find me hanging with my family, enjoying a round on the golf course, watching just about any sport on TV, or tinkering with my race car project. (Ask me about it in person, it is a budget-friendly masterpiece!).

From HOA President to Business Owner

The Unexpected Journey of Third Party Voting

It all started with something as simple as taking out the trash. No, really. One Sunday, I happened to be outside at the same time as my neighbor, who was on our HOA’s board of directors. He mentioned they were looking for new board members, and since I was still relatively new to homeownership, I figured a few quarterly meetings sounded like a reasonable commitment. A low-key way to get involved, right?

Fast forward three years every board member I had originally served with, including my neighbor, had moved on. And somehow, through a series of unexpected leadership transitions, I was now President of the HOA. It was a classic case of "how did I get here?" but also an incredible opportunity to truly understand the inner workings of community management.

A Crash Course in HOA Management and the Spark of an Idea

Serving as HOA President was an eye-opening, hands-on crash course in community management. I quickly became immersed in everything from intricate budgets, managing dues, and understanding liens, to navigating complex community dynamics and, surprisingly, an overwhelming amount about trees (seriously, so many tree-related issues). More importantly, this role gave me a deep, personal understanding of the daily challenges HOAs face in maintaining compliance, fostering community harmony, and managing resources effectively.

Then came SB 323, a pivotal California law that took effect in January 2020. This legislation completely overhauled HOA election processes, introducing stricter rules on everything from candidate qualifications and voting procedures to proxies and overall election management. It was a game-changer, and it became immediately clear that HOAs needed a trusted, compliant, and efficient solution to conduct their elections that went beyond what many current providers offered. This was the spark.

From Idea to Action

The Birth of Third Party Voting

I had always told myself I would start a business one day. I had the entrepreneurial mindset, plenty of ideas (all amazing, of course), but I had never quite taken that definitive leap. That changed when I started collecting bids for Inspector of Elections services for my own HOA. The prices I saw were, frankly, shocking. It seemed disproportionate to the service provided, and I knew there had to be a better way.

I envisioned a solution that was not only efficient and compliant but also genuinely affordable for HOAs. Every time I mentioned this idea to property managers, I heard the same, almost exasperated, refrain: "Everyone in my office says they are going to do it, but no one ever will." That is when the demand became undeniable and the opportunity crystal clear. It was time to stop dreaming and start doing.

I realized the need was real, and I had the unique combination of experience and passion to fill it. I reached out to trusted property managers who believed in my vision and helped me land my very first contract. From that initial leap of faith, fueled by a desire to solve a real problem for communities, Third Party Voting was born. This journey from an idea to a thriving business is something I am incredibly proud of.
